Do different agronomic soil tests identify similar nutrient deficiencies?

چکیده
Traditionally, locally calibrated soil tests were used for fertilizer and lime recommendations. Farmers advisors are increasingly using new ‘universal’ without local calibration. The objective of this study was to compare five commercially available determine whether they would provide similar In total, 24 fields in Western Finland sampled 4 years while being treated with fertilizers, manure. samples analysed Mehlich-3, ammonium acetate, H3A, hydrochloric acid mild acetic (Spurway) extractants. addition, Soil Health Tool (CO2 burst, water-soluble C N) tissue testing conducted. different extracted orders magnitude nutrients (especially P Mg), but the results from extractions correlated. Mehlich-3 degree phosphorus saturation (DPS) presented a threshold, below which soluble not detected. Similar thresholds found P, S Mg. acetate provided Ca, Mg K can be interchangeably liming identified more Zn, Cu, B deficiencies less Mn compared + EDTA testing. had strong correlation, determination nutrient needs calibration deficiency limits.

Different tests for a difference: how do we do research?
• Frequentist probability concerns the possibility of NO difference • The starting premise is a population with known features • Bayes’ theories concern modifying a pre-existing possibility • Experiments revise the previous estimate • Lab experiments do not often use random samples • Small numbers, random allocation to treatment • Well suited to permutation tests • Choose the test when you devi...
متن کاملDeficiencies of combined rank tests
Ahs/rcrct: Oneand two sample problems are considered which are divided into subproblems, for each of which a separate rank statistic is obtained. The best combination of these statistics is then compared to the ordinary undivided rank statistic. One easily sees that, under natural conditions, splitting causes no first order efficiency loss. Hence it becomes interestmg to derive second order res...
متن کاملSoil-nutrient availability affected by different biomass-ash applications
This study, through an incubation experiment, evaluates the effect that different biomass ashes exert on the extractability of nutrients and some chemical parameters and dehydrogenase activity of a slightly acid soil. Three types of as were selected: two new ashes generated by the dry combustion of olive cake or by gasification of greenhouse vegetable wastes, and a third produced by wood combus...
متن کاملNutrient deficiencies secondary to bariatric surgery.
PURPOSE OF REVIEW The number of adolescent and adult patients submitting to bariatric surgery is increasing rapidly around the world. This review describes the literature published in the last few years concerning nutritional deficiencies after bariatric surgery as well as their etiology, incidence, treatment and prevention. RECENT FINDINGS Although bariatric surgery was first introduced in t...
